Self-portraits weave in and out of my work as an outlet for self-awareness and role play. Such dreamlike images construe my own journey of self-discovery and represent an ongoing investigation that began after a life-altering assault changed my own perceptions and ways of seeing the world.
The haunting experience prompted an ongoing series of self-portraits which allows me to mask myself from the viewer and changes my role to a voyeur or aggressor instead of a victim. Growing older, I have become more comfortable gradually stripping away the mask and revealing more of myself.
